Costs

Private Clients

Family lawyers charge for their professional services based upon the time and work they undertake specifically for your case.

As each case is unique in terms of the issues and complexities and as there is no control over how the other party engages in the process it is not possible to provide to you at the beginning of your matter a quote for your actual entire legal costs. An estimate can be provided based on similar cases.

An estimate will be provided to you of the average costs to settle a matter out of Court and the average costs should your matter proceed to trial. Cost estimates are provided to you on an ongoing basis throughout your case for the various stages of your case.

I charge for my professional legal services on a time and scale basis pursuant to the Supreme Court Scale set by the Supreme Court of South Australia from time to time.

If you would like a guideline as to average legal costs please email me – Click Here

Minimising Legal Costs

Legal costs can often be minimised by clients by:

  • Following legal advice
  • Resolving their matter amicably (where that is possible)
  • Providing instructions to their lawyer in a timely fashion
  • Following the direction of their lawyer in the provision of disclosure documents
  • Providing disclosure documents to their lawyer in an organised manner and in the electronic format requested by their lawyer
  • Making full and frank disclosure in property matters as required by law
  • Minimising telephone calls, emails and letters to your lawyer to important and relevant matters and as directed by your lawyer.
